Change in the "look-back" period for Tennessee

on Wed, 05/22/2013 - 5:03pm

One of our eligible professionals received this answer to her question about the change in the look back period available in the 2014 final rules for Medicaid EPs

QUESTION
The second change, which is also a positive for EPs, is that the states have the option to adopt greater flexibility in the look-back period for patient volume. CMS has given the states the latitude to allow the period used for patient volume to be a time over the 12 months preceding attestation, not tied to a particular calendar year. For the states that adopt this rule, and I think many will, an EP will be able to attest sooner than if he/she had to wait until the next calendar year.

No, we are not. We are still requiring that patient volume data come from the previous calendar year.
